Do you and your students need a boost to get ready for TAKS and optimize student performance? In working with high school students, we often find that they have a considerable amount of knowledge about algebra and geometry, and they also know a lot of the strategies for working through problems.

The departments of teams finishing in the top 5 also get cash awards; we've done well on this count in the past, and those awards have been used to support math activities for undergraduates.

Regular meetings will be on Mondays from 6- in 380Y.

From 7- I'll have volunteers present solutions to selected problems.

I'll post the problems for the week here usually by Friday of the week before.

The Polya seminar was first started by Ravi Vakil, and his excellent webpage contains much useful information.

The seminar is named after George Polya (1887-1985), a great mathematician and problem solver.
