To declare, students must complete a Creative Writing Minor Declaration Application and submit it to the Creative Writing Minor Student Academic Advisor, Laura Demir. If the declaration application is approved, Creative Writing will be added as a minor program to the student's My Academics.
Many students ask how they can develop their creative writing skills in preparation for applying to take the upper division creative writing courses needed to satisfy the Creative Writing Minor requirements.
Space in these courses is limited and, in most cases, writing samples must be submitted as part of the application process.

You can take as many as two of the required upper division courses at another school, as long as at least two of your Creative Writing courses were taken here at Berkeley.
